- ABOUT -

I have decided to name the project "Southbound and Solo" with following explanation. "Southbound" is an adjective meaning someone travelling south and because I'm alone in the project and I'm modifying the boat for safe single-handed sailing I use the adjective "Solo".

The project "Southbound & Solo" is started by me, Oskar Huledal. I am a qualified sailing instructor and has always dreamt of off-shore sailing since I was a sail-school kid. For long I believed that sailing off-shore was too expensive for me, being young and not having much money, but since I got in contact with Sven Yrvind my opinion has quickly changed to the opposite. As a young and independent soul the best thing you can do is to buy a cheap sailboat and discover the world.

The decision on long-distance sailing after high school were taken during the summer of 2013 when I was in Greenland and befriended the kayak guide Lorenzo Gimenez, who had long-distance sailed from France to Argentina. A few weeks later I decided my destination: Lorenzos hometown in Argentina: Camarones at 44 ° S 65 ° W. In October 2014 I bought a Hurley 22 and got shortly after in contact with sailing profile Sven Yrvind, who calls me his adept. Thanks to Sven Yrvinds good judgement on how a boat should be seaworthy a solid plan has now been developed and is to be carried out to make my boat ready for the big oceans and the roaring fourties.

Model of modifications

Model of modifications is early stage and during construction will be modified.
